Web Development 2006

I’m not sure if Anil’s list contains the only things that are relevant Web Development Trends for 2006, but still: He gives a compact explanation for each of item.

  • Dampening: Using a gradual transitions instead of sudden changes of the state (aka page reload). A well know feature of RIAs (Rich Internet Applications)
  • E4X: ECMAscript for XML
  • JSON: JavaScript Object Notation
  • XHTML and CSS: The classics
  • Buffering: “Loading…”
  • The Atom API: Atom Publishing Format and Protocol
  • Ruby on Rails: A Framework for a very smart and fast(!) development of web application.
  • Marketing for Technologies: It’s about being able to explain non-geeks why you’re using one of the elements mentioned above.

And of course, I do love the style how The Register and its readers think and write about it: What is Web 2.0? You redefine the paradigm. (via Herr Schmidt)

And the story goes on: W3C nimmt Web-Applikationen ins Visier — Neue Spezifikationen sollen Möglichkeiten von AJAX erweitern.
