Life just got better: Start processing it, now!
Sad enough, that I found the software Processing.org that late (meaning: today) — but: it's good that I found it at all.
The pieces of art that are developed with this environment and programming language are exceptionally beautiful (you don't have to be in love with numbers to think like that). You can work with (or should I say process) images, sound, animations, basically anything that has to do with modern art.
It can be used for professional productions or it can be used for rapid prototyping (on the website they used the term “software sketchbook” which I really like). Since it is based on Java, it runs on OS X, Windows and Linux. Oh, I forgot: It's an open project. You don't have to pay for the software.
I can't wait to find some time to play with it and to start processing thoughts.
Later I stumbled upon runme.org - say it with software art! and typographic illustrations. But that's another story. One step at a time.

thanks bas, this software locks very promising. the interactive art works are just great, especially if you consider the small amount of code needed.
