SnipSnap
SnipSnap is a weblog/wiki-combination, written in Java, invented by the Frauenhofer Institut Rechnerarchitektur und Softwaretechnik (FIRST). This might be, what we've been looking for.

Has anyone been working with this already?
Life just got better: Start processing it, now!
Sad enough, that I found the software Processing.org that late (meaning: today) — but: it's good that I found it at all.
The pieces of art that are developed with this environment and programming language are exceptionally beautiful (you don't have to be in love with numbers to think like that). You can work with (or should I say process) images, sound, animations, basically anything that has to do with modern art.
It can be used for professional productions or it can be used for rapid prototyping (on the website they used the term “software sketchbook” which I really like). Since it is based on Java, it runs on OS X, Windows and Linux. Oh, I forgot: It's an open project. You don't have to pay for the software.
I can't wait to find some time to play with it and to start processing thoughts.
Later I stumbled upon runme.org - say it with software art! and typographic illustrations. But that's another story. One step at a time.
wasting time - ecologically correct
.. good old plastic bubblewrap - vitual version this time - magic mode is for pros only!

If you happen to be in Munich at the moment (8-13 May, 2005), make sure you visite Richard's workshop Auditory Displays for Mobile Context-Aware Systems.
(I was searching for him on the pictures, but I haven't found him yet).

Synthesizing 802.11B Using Collaborative Symmetries
My co-authers don't know yet (sorry guys), but we have just released a new paper on Synthesizing 802.11B Using Collaborative Symmetries (SCIgen-PDF, 55 kByte). There's quite a lot of dicussion going on about this issue so we thought it's about time that someone starts explaining what this is all about.
For those of you who are in a hurry, I used the Summarizer to produce a 250 word version of our paper. (It can be found in the extension of this post). Read the rest of this entry »
