complexity vs. simplicity

When switching on the Garmin gps device etrex, you have to choose one of two options. Either you can see a sophisticated matrix of fast changing numbers that indicate the initial setup phase or you can see this. I've chosen the runner. In case you are wondering, I've never seen him taking a rest.

    Did you get an etrex?

BTW: The initial sequence of the Forerunner shows a runner; and this one does take a rest! So is etrex better then?

I'm currently testing the etrex, however it's not mine. For personal use I am thinking of buying the garmin forerunner 201, since that one is more handy. Unfortunately the forerunner hasn't a built-in compass.
